The Church of Virgin Mary, considered to be a holy site according to Christians, is located near the top of Bülbül Mountain near to the town of Selçuk in Izmir province, one of the bluest cities in the Aegean Region.
Nestled amidst a lush green forest, the tranquil site attracts the attention as the place where Virgin Mary had spent the last years of her life before she died. The holy ground which was declared a Christian pilgrimage center in 1961 attracts also attention for a variety of valuable artifacts unearthed during the excavations conducted in the area.
